In Christ Alone

Now Mom's only sister, Arlene, is in the hospital. Flu has taken down many people in Michigan...shoot, across the country. Aunt Arlene is 89, and her kidneys were gradually failing, thanks in great part to dehydration. (When your fluids are coming out of both ends, not much stays in to hydrate your body.) She's improved some today, but it still isn't looking good.

Mom is being amazingly strong about this new development. I worry, though -- how will she do when I am not here? (I leave tomorrow morning for home.) God knows. GOD KNOWS. He can take far better care of her than I can.

Here are the amazing words to "In Christ Alone" -- watch it in performance here:

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

O Cindy, what a beautiful hymn/poem. Thank you so much for posting it.
God our Father has a way of cornering us in this life, so that we can look no place else but to Him Alone for what we need....and these words celebrate that.

Your emotions are strong due to all the things that are happening now...and that is natural...but beyond them is the realization within you and your family that All Is Good, for all is in God Alone...

I find it amazing that you are sharing such intimate and spiritual matters on your blog. This enriches all your readers, I so believe.
Myself included...
God speed...and God bless...
