Monday Stuff On the Way to Other Stuff: A Week of Grace -- and HIgher Ground

So glad to be home.

Except it's really grubby here...and I have a ton of work to do...and the flu's still hanging around.

But at least I'm home, dealing with it. And not 'wandering around the countryside,' as my dad would say. Plus -- Michigan won its college football game. (Go Blue!) And CU won, as well. (Go Buffs!) Miracles never cease.

Several pots are simmering right now, but full boil won't be until the Higher Ground Fair this weekend in Laramie, WY.

Llama and alpaca shows, musicians on stage all day long, lots of workshops and kids' activities. Oh yes, quilting classes and a quilt show. (That's where I come in.) Appraising, too.

If you're in the Laramie area -- and if you're from Wyoming or northern Colorado, you are -- come on over. Love to see you.

Retiring early, thanks to a pension. Which is exactly what the Brick did, three years ago. (From Millenial Investor) Speaking of:

The Buffalo Bills cornerback who retired -- right in the middle of his first game for the Bills. (He was through at halftime. Changed his clothes, said 'I'm done' -- and left.)

A very strange bit on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh...and his character. So it's bad that so many women speak well of him?!? Let's hear his accuser's testimony -- and his, for fairness -- and get on with it. (And now the accusation is not actual rape...just attempted rape. Maybe. Kind of. Or not. Or yes. All depending on where you stand politically, apparently -- not the actual allegation.)

Yet another contendor for a copycat KFC coleslaw recipe. Possibly the world's most perfect food.

Nine categories of items destroyed or damaged in the Brazilian museum fire recently. A real shame.

An Ice Age wolf pup -- found INTACT by gold miners in the Yukon!
(They found part of a caribou calf, too.)

Millions of euros' worth of 5th century Italian gold coin, stuffed in a clay pot -- found when demolishing a 19th century theatre in Italy.

Ten unusual groups that are still around, in spite of being thousands of years old. (Thank DNA...from Listverse)

Why FEMA watches the Waffle House menu during hurricanes. And it makes sense!

Ten lucrative ideas -- that sold for peanuts.  (From Listverse) Also from them:

Ten last photos taken.

Ten unusual discoveries, found during construction for something else. Including Inca walls, a medieval mansion, and a stash of diamonds!

Nine surprising things to try before you buy. Hmmm, I really do need new glasses... (From Brad's Deals)

Bull and bear markets -- since 1926.   Now, does that ease your mind a little about today's panic-stricken pronouncements and predictions? (From Get Rich Slowly)
        And, thanks to J.R. Roth's heads-up:

Eight fall chores you can't afford to ignore.  (From Consumer Reports)

Have a great week.
