College ball, that is. We don't tend to mess with the professional teams. College football is much more uncertain and exciting -- you never know what's going to happen.
Like...Michigan losing a squeaker to Oklahoma, 13-24. (It was closer than the score suggests -- both teams made a lot of mistakes. Dropping the ball on a punt return?!? And Michigan's QB is a true freshman - he just turned 18 a few days ago.)
And the Colorado Buffaloes beating Delaware 31-7. Go Buffs!
No matter. We love football. Go, Blue! Go, Buffs! It's when they play each other that we get into real trouble...
A KC Chiefs mini-football was found among the Ground Zero rubble...and treasured by team members ever since.
Easy, brilliant life hacks -- including this one: use inflated plastic gloves for padding in shipping. (I just bought a package of 500 plastic gloves for a buck at the thrift shop -- guess what they'll be used for?)
So...climate change is seriously affecting sea levels -- just like the experts insisted. Right?
A whole series of kitty pawprints -- from a medieval manuscript to modern concrete. Mew!
Boiling water, salt and flour -- plus oil to fry it in. That's all you need for these crispy rolls.
Kamala Harris doesn't have to worry about losing her security detail -- she's got LA cops filling in for that, instead. (One wonders if they'll be accompanying her on her upcoming book tour, as well.)
Maybe emigrating to Russia, loudly proclaiming their (Russia's, that is) "Christian values," wasn't such a good idea for these people, after all...
Chuck E. Cheese gets arrested...for the same crime he'd done six months earlier.
The weirdest romance scam yet -- a fake astronaut persuades his lovestruck correspondent that he's stuck in space -- and needs thousands of dollars, or he's going to run out of oxygen on the space ship. I am not making this up. (Yes, she pays.)
"I don't want that ----- in the house..." until they fall in love. (As in Dads and pets)
Fixing frizzy doll and toy animal hair. I wonder if this would work on yarn, too! (Thanks, The Frugal Girl.)
More than 100 interesting beach finds.
Chatbot interactions that went very, very wrong.
The Nazi's daughter's home not only features a stolen painting (which conveniently disappeared), but a coffee table inlaid with a swastika design. Their lawyer finally produced the painting; a number of other paintings and drawings were also found during the search. We'll be hearing more about this, I'm certain. P.S. Daughter tried to get a court to rule that the painting was hers -- didn't work. The heirs of the original owner are doing the same...no ruling there, so far.
Can you travel around the world when you're older? Absolutely. This woman said her summer's travel was actually cheaper than her rent normally in LA.
Poor Greta Thunberg's 'noble,' self-advertising flotilla has been turned back -- again. (This time, it was the weather. Maybe she should stick to climate change.)
Oregon's college ball mascot loses his head. Literally.
And finally -- a very quirky (and amusing) song -- "Blue" by Eiffel 65. Silly...but hypnotic. (The band picked the color randomly, by the way.)
Just as I'd finished writing this earlier, Daughter #1 texted -- Adopted Son's dad died suddenly. There's not much we can do to help, but love up our kids and let them know we're praying for them. Rest in peace, Rudy.
