Monday Stuff on the Way to Other Stuff: Meet the Kids!

Our new puppies have been enjoying themselves, fake-fighting all over the house. Ruby pretty much tolerates them, unless all the tumbling and growling gets too close. Then she growls a bit...and they knock it off. For a while, at least.

Dirty truck and all. Actually, if we washed it, we'd stand out in the Valley.

Meet Tiger, otherwise known as Tiger Shark:

(Yes, like this. He's got little needle teeth, but they're sharp.)

And Bo, named for Boadicea, fierce Celtic queen:

Don't let their peaceful "I'm so cute" faces fool you -- these are feisty little kids.
Just the way we like 'em.

Meanwhile:

Denzel Washington shows kindness to someone -- again. (I would LOVE to see him in Othello. What a talented man.)

The American countess married to a German -- who saved Jews and insulted Hitler to his face. Fascinating.

Fort Bragg gets its name back! Named this time for a PFC Bragg, a WWII hero -- instead of a Confederate general.

Photos that look  unassuming -- until you find out what they REALLY are about.

Fifty 'bookmarks' found in books. Including a Lincoln campaign ribbon and a five-dollar bill!

Patriotic quilt patterns -- dozens of them!  Many of these would be perfect for Quilts of Valor.

Fifteen truly bizarre stories -- and they're not made up, either.

CNN is 'stunned' to find out that Americans support Elon Musk's DOGE cuts. Shocked, I tell you -- shocked. You really weren't paying attention during the elections, were you?

So who made the decision to leave the astronauts stranded?  Let's put it this way:

"Barry Wilmore seemed to suggest he and his crewmate Sunita Williams had been caught up in political games in Washington.

SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk, whose spaceflight company was tasked with bringing Williams and Wilmore home later this month, has repeatedly said the Biden administration 'abandoned' them for 'political reasons.'Musk has also said that former president Joe Biden rejected his offer to bring the astronauts home early because it would've made Donald Trump and his supporters 'look good.'

During a Tuesday press conference, Williams and Wilmore were asked if the Biden administration did in fact decline Musk's offer to bring them home early, to which Wilmore replied that Musk's claim 'is absolutely factual.' "

Hmmmmm.... glad there are plans now for their rescue. Not in good shape -- but they should be back soon.

Fifty very funny (and sweet) things women do to spice up life.

Easy Chicken Parmesan -- looks delicious, too.

Ten signs someone is secretly broke.  (Now, how about a post on secretly rich?!? Here's one take on that.)

'Chaos, fear and uncertainty -- wonderful for real estate investors!'  (Oh yeah, Financial Samurai?)  I keep thinking of the Warren Buffett rule.

The diver who collects golf balls -- and makes a good living at it, too.

How much should you really give your grown kids? The technical term is EOC -- 'Economic Outpatient Care.'  Tom Stanley's book talks a lot about this. (From White Coat Investor)

Bill Murray makes some surprising remarks about Bob Woodward's biography of John Belushi. But even better, right in the middle of this post... Murray comments on Gene Hackman.  Fascinating.

Classic foods born from "mistakes and stubbonness."

Who betrayed Anne Frank and her family? Another look at this historic puzzle. This website, Historic Mysteries, is filled with unusual stories, legends, puzzles...and yes, unsolved mysteries.

And in keeping with one of my very favorite bloggers:

I didn't spend $40 million to "improve the social and economic inclusion" of sedentary migrants, or $8 million to promote LGBTQI in the the African nation of Lesotho. (Hopefully they can promote and improve these things themselves, without our help.)

The president put his finger on life when he said Tuesday: 'I look at the Democrats in front of me and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud.'

'So, Democrats sitting before me, for just this one night, why not join us in celebrating so many incredible wins for America? For the good of our nation, let's work together and let's truly make America great again.'

Have a great week.
