Monday Stuff on the Way to Other Stuff: November

The strange month, dreary and overcast much of the time. The waiting month.

 Until Thanksgiving, that is.

Not much to say -- just the usual work. Driving in the 'new' car feels weird, but nice. No grubbiness? No duct-taped back seats or cracked windshield? Does this little farm girl deserve such luxury?
    Why not.

Meanwhile:

Peanut allergies are on the downturn, thanks to an unusual treatment: exposing kids to peanuts much earlier than formerly suggested. Hoooo...

Passing out potatoes, along with Halloween candy!  Katy, you make me laugh.  (From the Nonconsumer Advocate)

Broccoli tempura -- quick and crunchy, thanks to kitchen ingredients. Yum.  (From Khin's Kitchen)

Hot cocoa may be just the ticket for improving your heartrate...especially for guys.

Does your kid have a hefty savings account? Help yourself to it! Or so this dad thinks.

The so-called Dragon Lady... comforting a scared little girl? Melania Trump, how could you...

The plumply endowed influencer who insisted on free airline seats to accommodate her -- has largely disappeared from social view. And there's a reason for it.

Ada Blackjack: an Arctic hero -- and survivor.

'Plain art' -- that's worth a fortune.

A pharoah's gold bracelet -- stolen by a restoration staffer and melted down! What a shame.

Update:  The thieves were caught, but it was too late.
The $4000-value bracelet had already been melted down -- for the gold.

The (women) spies who should be remembered. Mata Hari (if she actually did it) is just one of them.

A nearly two century-old decorative bracelet -- found at a church thrift store! (I did some research, and found out that travelers would buy decorative miniatures, painted and mosaics, as souvenirs. Then they'd hire jewelers to set them into necklaces, bracelets, even rings.)

Have a great week.
