Monday Stuff On the Way to Other Stuff: Oh, Those Wonderful Buffs!
We're still exhausted from Saturday's exciting round of college football games. Michigan's was a nail-biter; they almooooost lost to Army. But Colorado's Buffaloes? They weren't supposed to win the game with Nebraska. They weren't supposed to look good at all -- especially when they were 0 and behind at halftime.
And yet they won, clawing and fighting and keeping on, right through the final play.
Daughter #2 was working in Boulder, and said the racket from the stadium could be heard, even downtown, until the end of the game -- then the Nebraska fans were silent. Deafening.
The Boulderites' "mayhem" made up for it afterwards.
Ralphie was proud of her guys.
Meanwhile, we have less than two weeks before the house sale closing. It's a matter of cleaning out the garage, a few drawers in the house, and doing one final sweep-through. All the deadlines are past and met; this sale really looks like it's going to finish. God is good!
An Australian sues her neighbors -- because they have meat-filled barbecues, and she's a vegan. When her complaint's dismissed in court, the neighborhood decides to have a barbecue for her benefit, outside her home. Guess what's going to be on the barbie...
"I survived our trip on waffles." A love affair in photographs. (From Moving With Mitchell)
Easy freezer meals -- 33 of them. (From One Hundred Dollars A Month)
Working at Whole Foods helped her pay her debts...and write Budget Bytes, a helpful blog that charts tasty recipes both by price and nutritional value. (The link takes you to her recipe for chicken noodle soup.)
Feeling positive about your body -- no matter what size it is. Still working on this. (From the Frugalwoods)
'Rules' pet owners must follow, now they have pets. A very funny slideshow.
Christine Ford accused Kavanaugh of near-rape...because she wanted to protect abortions? A very strange admission from Ford's lawyer...
Weird online shopping results. Makes you want to order more from Amazon, doesn't it?
A very kind birthday surprise for a 100-year-old lady...from her garbageman.
Why John Wayne didn't serve in the military in WWII. The reasons are varied...and surprising. (From Ranker)
Ten ways doing the 'right thing' can impact your life -- for the worse. Or is it that people don't always WANT to do the right thing? These are weird... (From Listverse)
Have a great week.

GO BUFFS!
After that amazing football game with Nebraska Saturday night, need I say more?
University of Colorado Buffaloes: 34
University of Nebraska Cornhuskers: 31 (overtime)
Sure, there were plenty of fumbles and strange downs -- on both sides.
And any number of amazing runs, retrievals and touchdowns, as well.
Thanks, Guys -- for one of the best football games we've seen for years.
It could have gone either way.
(but I'm still glad CU won)
GO BUFFS!!

(Michigan did okay, too, against Army. Barely.)

No, No, No...
Driving by the gas station, I noticed a sign that filled me with horror:
"Pumpkin Spice Coffee now here"
Now comes the dreaded time of Pumpkin Overload:
Except I'm not jumping and prancing about from ecstasy.
It's going to be a long couple of months at Panera and Starbucks.
Now gas stations, too?!? (sigh)

I like my coffee to be COFFEE. My ice cream to taste like vanilla, chocolate, nuts. Sure, I'll eat a slice of pumpkin pie -- but that's about it. No muffins or cheesecake, either.
Oh, will this mania ever end...

I'm Dreaming of Changes...
I have been having the strangest dreams lately. Is it because the house sale is getting closer? (And so far, everything's going fine. God willing.) Or I have some things to finish up? And lots of health problems pestering some of our dearest friends?
Who knows.
At least this guy hasn't appeared in my dreams...
Yet.

Monday Stuff On the Way to Other Stuff: Not Much
This past week happened. Sort of. Didn't it?
We worked on the house, the garage, the trailer. I worked on work. We did some traveling, and went to a baseball game. The Brick fixed a leaky sink. (Not for us -- for someone else.) We sold the patio furniture. That's about it.
One more week toward the house closing. So far, so good. Not much else to report, from this final week of August dog days.
At least Hurricane Dorian may spend itself out a bit out over the ocean, rather than on land. (Except the Bahamas. Those poor people.) The husband of a cousin (an engineer, naturally) was certain that the hurricane wouldn't smash into Orlando and travel across the land -- because their research model said so, in spite of all the media huffing and puffing. He -- and the model -- were right.
Just a few items this week -- I haven't been online much. More next week.
Financial abuse -- six women share their stories. (From Penniless Parent)
Dirty Harry and opportunity cost. The lesson is a little bass-ackward, but fits. (From Len Penzo) Also from Len:
What barfing out of a bus window teaches about managing money. Hey, I don't make this stuff up.
Ten things you can get for free in September.
Thomas Markle gripes about his daughter. But based on her letter, written to him, he's really the bad guy. What a mess.
How to prepare for another recession - if it comes. (From Jean Chatsky, via Hermoney)
"Why I'm ignoring Jean Chatsky's advice." (From I Pick Up Pennies) While I'm at it:
"Six reasons I'm no fan of Suze Orman..." He's a little rough on her, but frankly, it's deserved. (From Money Talks News)
"Why I killed Jeffrey Dahmer." Understandable (sort of) -- but still weird.
Money Magazine's no longer in print? Really?! It stopped with the June/July edition. I wondered why an August issue hadn't come out...
Hope you're having a relaxing holiday weekend.
