A little 10-year-old girl is walking home alone from school one day, when a big man on a black motorcycle pulls up beside her.

After following along for a while, he turns to her and asks,

"Hey there little girl, do you want to go for a ride?"

"NO!" says the little girl as she keeps on walking.

Smackdown

 Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen, to the fight of the century!

On one side, we have the President of the United States, who has labeled millions of voters extremists, "semi-fascists" and terrorists. (I'm surprised he didn't include the D--- word.) Why are they this? Because first, they're the R--- word. (You know: Republicans.) Next, instead of him, many voted for Someone Else, the greatest source of evil possible. 

     Oh, and they disagree with a number of Biden's policies, too, including wondering where the money to fund them is coming from. (Maybe we don't want to know.)

    To further emphasize that he was Best for the Country during his latest speech, Biden spoke at a national park, framed by the American flag -- and two U.S. Marines standing at attention. 

 'I didn't say that Republicans were bad,' Biden insisted today. 'I wasn't anti-MAGA.' Gee, I could have sworn he did. Here's the direct quote from his Thursday night speech:

...the president called “MAGA Republicans” and supporters of his predecessor and potential 2024 rival, Donald Trump, a threat to “the republic.”

“Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal. Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said feet from Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

“There’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans. And that is a threat to this country.”

“MAGA Republicans have made their choice. They embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth, but in the shadow of lies. Together, we can choose a different path,” Biden said...

“They’re working right now, as I speak, in state after state to give power to decide elections in America to partisans and cronies, empowering election deniers to undermine democracy itself,” Biden insisted.

Rabbit trail:  Hillary Clinton said in 2016 that she was cheated out of the Presidency -- another "election denier." She conveniently forgot that she said this beforehand:

Biden would agree. One wonders what he will say after November's elections, if they don't go the Dems' way. Trump, too, as well as Mrs. Clinton.

 Well, never mind. Back to the stadium.

Now on the other side, Ladies and Gents, we have a Very Angry Former President, who insists that he should be reinstated to his old job. (Fat chance that's going to happen, at this point.) 

Donald Trump claims the 2020 election was tampered with. In some areas, it must have been...or Arizona wouldn't have had this happening. 

     He didn't appreciate the raid on Mar-A-Lago. (Got a point there, unless all the other Former Presidents are now going to be raided, as well, for their classified documents.)  He's wondering why the investigation of the president's son's by the FBI is dragging on...and on...and on. ( I am, too.)  Trump is even promising pardons to those caught up in the Jan. 6 Capital lunacy. (Weird -- especially for the people who trashed the place and stole things. That was the right thing to do??)

       Trump is finding himself attacked by the FBI nowadays, as well as his political opponents, and he is fighting back, with his usual tact and dignity. His speech, made after Biden's, said:

“If you look at the words and meaning of the awkward and angry Biden speech tonight, he threatened America, including with the possible use of military force,” Mr Trump wrote, without any basis. “He must be insane, or suffering from late stage dementia!”

At this point, both seem to have lost it to some degree. Trump's protests, accusations and insults (with the Mar-A-Lago raid the big exception, in my opinion) could be pushed aside as sour grapes. Sure, he has some influence on the Republican party, but not everyone is singing his praises right now. 

Biden, on the other hand, is saying and doing these things while representing our country. And speaking on behalf of our country. And taking actions that will affect it for decades to come.

    While his press secretary insists that he is speaking for the "majority of the people," even though his polls say anything but. 

That's why we're here tonight -- to offer a solution to this mess. Yet another Modest Proposal:

A Rumble -- like in the Civil War era!

House member Preston Brooks and Senator Charles Sumner can set the tone.  (Thought I'd throw in a little history here.)

The President and the Former President can fight it out, in time-honored tradition, and continue to make fools out of themselves, to the loss of everything else. More insults on both sides, fellas. Lots more insults. Don't forget the careless words and hasty decisions that brought you to this point. We'll believe every word, even when it's obvious you're lying... 

                                     You obviously think we're that stupid.

                                      P.S. We aren't.

Meanwhile, the rest of us Americans will attempt to figure out how we're going to pay our grocery, gas and heating bills this winter, while somehow covering our share of the forgiven student loan interest, all the money sent to Ukraine, the Inflation Reduction Act (which is anything but)...and other gems the administration can whip up. 

                    I can't wait.

Let the fight begin!
