Are You Small-Minded?

For those who are badmouthing Donald Trump right now --

And jumping all over those FBI agents who were just following orders.

Focus on the investigation into who decided to do this -- and why it happened. That's the important part!

Update:  Trump has called for the immediate release of the search warrant, saying that the FBI was searching for classified documents on nuclear weapons. Which brings up yet more questions...like why the FBI confiscated Trump's passports -- then denied they did it. (Oops, they must have, since the passports were just returned.)

If Trump was indeed trying to hide something, why would he have insisted that the search warrant be made public? And why would he say this? (Because he did.)

“They could have had it anytime they wanted without playing politics and breaking into Mar-a-Lago,” he wrote. “It was in secured storage, with an additional lock put on as per their request. They could have had it anytime they wanted—and that includes LONG ago. ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS ASK.”

Why is the FBI now trying to get the judge NOT to release pertinent info about the raid, arguing that it would have a "detrimental effect" on the investigation? Trump says it's ok with him...knowing that he'll be branded with it, anyways.

What about the timing of the raid...just when elections are on the horizon? (Or in the case of some still going through primaries, within days or weeks.) Would there be any benefit to any party if Trump was suddenly branded as a criminal? (Gee, why would I think that...)

Wait a minute. Trump has not been president for more than two years. Why this sustained focus on him now, when there's plenty to occupy us about the current actions and decisions of President Biden and his administration? Is the raid another desperation move to take our attention off other, far more serious issues at present? (Of course not, Cindy. How could you even think that, too??)

What about the White House's assertion that unh unh nope, they had Absolutely No Idea this was going to happen? Sure. Right.

Do I believe Trump is totally innocent? Naah. Has he played fast and loose with his own finances? Made comments and insults he shouldn't have? Yes. I am not a huge fan of Trump, by any means. (In fact, I did not vote for him.)

But this is about the raid and paperwork, not Trump's failings. (Or should be.) Could some documents have been taken away...that shouldn't have been at Mar-A-Lago in the first place?

Of course. That just makes sense. But was it worth an extended raid, refusing to show the warrant until forced, trying to get the cameras turned off...and pawing through Melania's closet??

Next question: Do I believe that the 30-million-plus documents taken by ex-President Obama (and currently stored in a warehouse, though they were supposed to be scanned and documented years ago) might include some classified documents that shouldn't have been taken in the first place?

Of course. That also makes sense. After all, we're talking about a LOT of paperwork.

So why hasn't Obama's compound been raided? Why haven't any other ex-Presidents (who most probably have had the same questions brought up) had their property raided?

What in the world is going on around here??

It will be interesting to see how the Mar-a-Lago raid plays out. (Yes, it was a raid. If Stephen Colbert can call it that, I can, too.)

Personally, I would like to see a certain H. Biden residence raided, for balance &  fairness on the spectrum. And I'm not the only one.

Must be the small -minded person in me.

Another update:  I was recently savaged on Facebook, with people announcing that since Hunter has not been indicted or arrested right now, he must be in the clear -- and the accusations against him baseless. That would be difficult to prove, since he admitted, or is pictured on the 'right-wing media' laptop (now grudgingly accepted as authentic), breaking drug and gun laws. (And that's not even bringing up his questionable business practices and his reluctance to pay the proper taxes -- now finally paid..)

To my naysayers: the door has not yet closed on Hunter Biden. The DOJ recently said that the investigation had reached a "critical point," whatever that means. (By the way, the link I just provided can't be dismissed as a "right-wing source like Fox, so they can't be taken seriously." The link is from CNN.)

I, for one, will be fascinated to see how the DOJ will desperately try to avoid mentioning Hunter's business shenanigans without bringing up the Big Guy.

There you go again... small-minded. And more than a little cynical about all this.
