Monday Stuff On the Way to Other Stuff: Starting A Garden...I Think

Making progress here at Chez Colorado. It's not as quick as I would wish -- but things are getting done.

I've been watching the green spears poke through at the perennial garden bed I've been working on for our friends. Three years -- that's how long it takes for perennials to really start to take hold. And this is the third year.

I've got some greens to plant, as well:  chard, kale and turnip greens. They generally like cooler weather. But we're supposed to get a freeze the end of this week, the Brick says -- and snow next Wednesday. Do I dare plant, anyways?

Could this new diet plan by 'The Glucose Goddess' work?

Inchauspé advises eating fiber first, followed by protein and fat, and finally starches and sugars. That’s because fiber breaks down slowly in the digestive system — while starches are turned quickly into glucose, leading to a spike. Eating fiber first slows down the speed at which you digest starches, so glucose trickles into the bloodstream more slowly than if you had eaten the same foods in reverse order. This may mean switching up the way you eat. For example, instead of a tuna salad sandwich, eat any greens first, followed by the tuna, then finish up by eating the toast. You should see a lower, slower glucose rise

Actress Ashley Tisdale's home is picked for an Architectural Digest article -- so she quickly sends her husband out to buy 400 books for the shelves. What the?!? No doubt they were chosen for color, not content.

'Let’s clear this up,' she said. 'There are some of my books from over the years in there but yea 36 shelves that hold 22 books I did not have and any interior designer would have done the same. They do it all the time, I was just honest about it.'

She does tweet soon after:  "Sorry I haven't been reading everybody's tweets. I've recently just got a lot of new books to get through." Then proceeds to recommend several!

Have a great week.
