Monday Stuff On the Way to Other Stuff: Another Day, Another Week

A fun birthday party for both daughters started last week...but I'm having trouble figuring out anything else of a profound nature. I read a few books, cleaned out some cupboards and worked on appraisals. (Exciting, huh?) The Brick has been finishing up some nasty jobs and doing some repairs, as well as helping our landlord/friend with some tasks. I'm also currently a "painted lady;" the trim around our friend's garage door has 3 coats of white enamel. It should wear very well, considering how long the paint spots are taking to wear off me.

It has been a series of canine adventures. We kept granddoggie Karma all week, while her parents were off rockhounding in New York. Ruby picked this week to chew on a decomposing elkhead...and got violently ill. We cleaned up body fluids for four nights straight. She finally kept herself to herself last night, and seems to have turned the corner. It has been both frightening and messy to watch her go through it.

"I'm exhausted, Mommmm..."
But notice: Dignity. Always dignity.**

The heat, blessedly is often broken in the afternoon by a thunderstorm or two. We've had peaceful nights, with starshine, a full moon and the mountains with their arms around us.
It may be quiet right now...but it's a life. And not a bad one, at that.

This is going up Sunday night -- Monday's going to be busy around here. Enjoy, a little early.

Will the governor of Michigan be Joe Biden's VP pick, after all? We know a bunch of Michiganders who fervently hope so...and not because they're Democrats, either.

Yet another museum professional tweets instructions on how to permanently damage brass statues. And brags about it...

Ten unintentional time capsules. (Thanks, Listverse.) And while you're at it:

Ten flowers that take notoriously long to bloom. I'm a little surprised they didn't include the corpse flower in this list.

TWENTY-EIGHT retailer chains have already filed for bankruptcy in 2020, including Ann Taylor, Lord & Taylor, Men's Wearhouse, Pier I (this one was in February), Neiman-Marcus and Lucky's. (Guess it wasn't.)

Getting ready for the upcoming recession. And yes, I too believe it's coming. (Thanks Brandy over at Prudent Homemaker.)

A 23-year-old is the new PGA champion! And he did it by playing brilliant golf, while others were arguing with each other or bragging on themselves. Good for you, Collin Morikawa. He started Sunday in a seven-way tie for first, but ended up with a 6-under 64 score...the lowest final round for a PGA champion in 25 years.

Four mental hacks that will keep you from spending imprudently right now.

Nine things that are free in August...so far, at least.

I love this Christmas Story on the Frontier. Thanks for sharing it, Harvest Lane Cottage.

A UFO video from Colorado... this one's definitely a little weird.

Have a great week. **Dignity: Always Dignity.
