Now I know why I have such a thing about buried treasure...except my mom never did this! She did host scavenger hunts, with paper clues and a treasure box of candy at the end. Years later, I found out this was her way of getting rid of stale candy. No matter -- we, as well as our cousins, loved it.
It was fun, however, to pay our nieces and nephew to look for The Mama's money caches, hidden all over the house. Total: more than $100. (Go here to learn more about that.)
