We're back to sort-of summer heat, though last week's snowstorm introduced some cooler breezes. Every day brings three or four hours of heat, and I think, "Oh boy -- it's back." Then evening comes, and the coolness moves in. The trees are really starting to change now, and the evenings make me think about homemade soup, cinnamon rolls -- and lots of movies. The Brick is happy to enjoy all three.
We're in caretaker mode; our landlord friend is off hunting right now. (Muzzle-loader season in Colorado.) We've spent time with friends, and done a weekly trip into town. I also started taking drumming lessons! I hope/plan to finish my appraisal work off this week, report-wise, then settle down to do some restoration work. Watch a few movies. Snuggle some with the Brick, too.
Oh yes -- painting, as well. It's just one excitement after another, around here. But we and resident dogs Charley and Ruby are fine.
Diana Rigg died last week. A brilliant actress, and fascinating person.

Know who's behind the whole BLM movement, encouraging them to disrupt things, so Trump will win the upcoming election? The Russkies. Yep -- Adam Schiff knows. Things.
The millionaire's party. A very interesting twist on the end of this story...

Joe Biden says he predicted 9/11 the day before it happened. Did he? (Don't ask him about it via his 'Ask Me Anything' instagram account -- he hasn't been answering any questions on it lately.)
Easy knit slippers. A classic that may come in handy for starting Christmas presents.
Governor Whitmer's state residence is getting a $1.1 million upgrade, security-wise. Yes, this is the famous "Twinkletoes" I love to mention. Guess who's going to pay for it? One word: Michiganders.

Actually, this was the norm for us for years. (For a number of years, it was less than that.)
Have a great week. Stay snuggly.
Paula Deen's frozen peach pie filling. I can't do much with peaches this year -- 'sale' prices are around $4/lb -- but maybe apples...
An intriguing set of sketchbooks, showing WWI-related paintings. Yet no one knows who the painter, "J.M.", is! (More about the mysterious sketchbooks here.)
A wolf? A dog? Some kind of weird cross? Montana authorities are trying to figure out what this animal actually is. (Warning: carcass photos.)
What's REALLY going to happen in the upcoming market? A Forbes staffer gives the straight skinny.
Frugal hacks for staying warm this winter. A classic from the Frugalwoods.
And just because I couldn't help admiring it:

One of the freakier things I have ever bumbled across... a collection of death masks apparently connected with the Princeton Library. Follow this up with:
A new Lewis chessman piece discovered...in a drawer. If you don't know the story of this iconic set, take a minute to read this.
I've seen the Lewish chessmen twice in recent weeks: once, displayed on the stairsteps behind Madeleine L'Engle during an interview, and once being used by the sheriff (John Cleese) in the movie Silverado!
What do you do for medical insurance, when you're traveling around the world? (Thanks, Travel with Kevin and Ruth)
At least a dozen members of former special counsel Mueller's team said they can provide any information about the Trump probe because their phones were wiped clean. A DOZEN...and they're saying it was either accidental, or the phone did it by itself. No, I am not making this up.
What does Queen Elizabeth eat during a normal day? People like me want to know.
