Monday Stuff On the Way to Other Stuff: Tying Up Loose Ends

Happy Easter! It's good to remember, once again, that the King we serve is alive -- not a memorial.

We had Mexican food for Easter dinner, bought groceries at Wal-Mart...and took a nap.

Temperatures are starting to ramp up here in Arizona.

We've had 80s and 90s temps all last week. What with the bit of rain a few weeks ago, it's starting to get (a little) green around here. The fifth-wheel stays reasonably comfortable until mid-afternoon...then it starts to get stuffy. Then we shut all the windows and shades, and show our thankfulness for air conditioning.

A few more days of work. A Zoom meeting, plus a lecture or two. Final touches on some paperwork. Then we move into the mountains for a few days of coolness. (Probably not Antelope Canyon, shown below -- but who knows.)

Meanwhile:

Ten secrets of the British crown jewels.  (Thanks, Listverse) Also from them:

Ten possible locations of long-lost treasures.

Venus -- a talented Civil War era spinner. Cloth-maker. And a slave.  (From Civil War Quilts)

Take a virtual visit to Pueblo, CO, and the Pride City Guild's recent quilt show! These are beautiful, dears.

Carrots...grown in a bucket?? If you're not big on that, at least go to the 37 minute spot, for a wonderful birdbath splashing event. These guys look like they're having soooo much fun!

Let's talk, not about President Biden tripping or using "cheat" sheets -- but whether his policies and signed-in bills are actually working. Did you realize that under his administration, we're in more trouble than ever before, debtwise? (And for my Gentle Readers who are rabidly anti-Fox: this ain't it, peoples. This analysis is from CNN.)

The world's deepest shipwreck found... so far, at least: the USS Johnston.

Thandie Newton is now going by her real name: Thandiwe Newton. Why not? It's a lovely name...

Bike...or car, Pete B? Mr. Secretary of Transportation 'bikes' to the White House for a meeting to promote bike use... after he parks close by and takes his bike out of his SUV, that is. This is such a Boulder thing to do. Push bikes...while riding in your SUV. Denounce carnivorous types -- while sucking down a burger in secret. Denigrate people wearing fur -- while you're wearing a leather jacket and shoes.

The net worth of every American President -- including Biden. Hmmm. Another study compared modern Presidential worth from when they assumed office to when they left. The only one, ironically, to emerge from office with a lower net worth than when he went in was... pause for drumroll... Donald Trump.

The farm table desk, built from pallets and scrap wood -- a classic from Funky Junk Interiors. We're considering doing something like this for a wall of the fifth-wheel.

A dresser, converted to a window seat?? Yep, thanks to Kammy's Korner. This is so clever. I also fell in love with the Michigan-shaped stencil she's using in this post.  (Hey, you can take the girl out of Michigan, but you can't take the Michigander out of the girl.)

"It's a personal choice, not a political agenda..."  (From Johnny FD)

Did you know that sheet music is a strong sign of white supremacy?? (Yep, me neither.)

Residuals -- what some actors are STILL making, even though their show closed down years ago.

The Andy Warhol Foundation went down in flames regarding copyrights! This artist's gleeful appropriation of other people's designs, photos, etc. has always bothered me...

Jeannie checks garden seeds for her upcoming garden. This means a lot when you know you won't be planting anytime soon.  (From Get Me to the Country)

Fried chicken...that's actually ice cream!

Hummingbird rescue!  Whew...

The weapons most mass shooters are using? According to FBI data, their weapons of choice have mostly been pistols -- not semiautomatic machine guns.

There IS a way to keep your french fries from getting soggy!  Hey, here at Brickworks, we only pass on the best stuff... (modest grin)

Silly memes based on the ship grounded in the Suez Canal. (It finally was unstuck.)

The perils of motherhood.

Paid $244 million -- for raising nonexistent cows? (He agreed to pay the money back...how much do you want to bet that won't happen?)

A huge statue of an Egyptian pharaoh is discovered -- sunk in the mud of a Cairo slum.

Now her great aim is to "make as much money as possible." Why should anyone be surprised that the Great (er, Fake) Heiress Anna Sorokin is now announcing this? (She's temporarily back in the slammer, though. Violated probation.)

Fact-checking on the new Georgia voting laws.

A farmyard/garden/chicken blog I've not read before -- "The Walden Effect." It doesn't seem to have been updated in recent years, but the advice (and photos) are still good. Sigh... I do miss our Castle Rock garden and chickies.

The struggle to get an I.D. card -- when you don't have a picture I.D. to start withAnd this reporter changes a guy's life in the process....

"What's the best life hack you've learned?"  Quora holds forth.

Discoveries in fine art. Including the grasshopper stuck on Van Gogh's painting. (Hey, it was a windy day.)

Have a great week.
