Dancing the Grays Away

It has been such a gray, dreary week -- rain and smoke from the Canadian wildfires -- that I couldn't resist giving you some of my favorite 'get down and boogie' videos. Thank you, Youtube, for such variety in your offerings.

So here goes, in no particular order. Warning:  Some have (oh joy) swear words -- but boy, are they catchy!

Fred Astaire,  " Putting on the Ritz." The most elegant man on the planet shows you how to DANCE.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, "Thrift Shop." Maybe because I have a yen for getting my stuff second- and thirdhand, too.

Bruno Mars, "Uptown Funk."  See if you can hold still while listening to this one.

And a surprisingly-apt old movie version of "Uptown Funk."  Fred's in this one, too.

Pharrell, "Happy."  The Brick thinks this is goofy -- but somehow it cheers me up, every time I listen to it. And all the different people dancing make it perfect.

Weird Al's version, "Tacky," is kind of fun, too: Too bad so many of his items actually happen! (I've seen 'selfies with the deceased.' Pathetic.)

And now a surprising introduction -- Mercy Me's "Happy Dance." A great reminder that being a Christian adds a lot of joy to life.

And where would a list like this be without Michael Jackson? The guy was amazing, especially his  "Thriller" and  "Beat It"

And my personal favorite, "Black Or White"

Ed Sheeran
's "Thinking Out Loud." This one gives me the shivers...and makes me think of the Brick.

Outkast "Hey Ya" -- but really, it's the "dancin' while you work" scene from that great movie, Flight of the Phoenix.  (This version on Youtube was transcribed in Russian - grab the movie, so you can hear the comments in English.)

MC Hammer in  "U Can't Touch This."  Weird...and very catchy. P.S. Mr. Hammer, I don't plan on trying to.

And one that should have had a dance scene -- but doesn't. Anyone who's been in a band can just see the members grooving to this one.  (Don't miss the little dog who wanders by Stevie 2/3 of the way through.)

Steve Winwood's 2020 Covid version (suitably distanced) of "Gimme Some Lovin."

If these don't get you on your toes, nothing will.

(Feel free to mention your favorites in the comments!)
